The general offer
One of the good aspects of the "Städtisches Gymnasium Mittweida" is undoubtedly the offer of after school activities. More than 30 working groups, groups of training and projects are there for the pupils. The school choir, the theatre group, basketball or table tennis teams - the choice is large. The lessons finish at 2 pm giving the pupils the possibility to participate in after school activities. In taking part in them the individual strong points of each pupil can be supported and new talents can be discovered. Concerning the large amount of activities, it is necessary to mention and thank the pupils and teachers who voluntarily sacrifice their free time for the enrichment of the school time and free time.
The offered profiles and languages
The grammar school of Mittweida offers its pupils the choice between the mathematical-scientifical and the linuistical profile. The former endeavours to deepen the development of the subjects mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry as well. Choosing the linguistic profile, the pupils learn 3 instead of 2 languages, in return. Totally, it is possible to learn 5 languages. As the first language, English is basically taught and two years later in the 7th class the second language is added. In the linguistical profile the pupils can choose a third language in the 8th class. Latin, French and Russia can be chosen, but Latin can only be chosen in the linguistical profile as the 3rd language. Furthermore Spanish can be learned in form of participating a working group.
